Spicy Dry Fish Curry (Sukat Masala)

Introduction:

Ingredients:

  • 200g dry fish (cleaned and soaked)
  • 2 tbsp Marathi Masale’s special curry powder
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add tomato puree, turmeric, red chili powder, and Marathi Masale’s curry powder. Cook until the oil separates.
  4. Add soaked dry fish and mix well. Cook for 10-12 minutes on low heat.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or bhakri.
